RELOCATION SERVICES
FLORIDA STATE
UNIVERSITY
FACULTY CANDIDATES
My objective is to present the many reasons why you should move to our wonderful city of Tallahassee and enjoy a high quality of life! This will be done through Welcome Packages, research, correspondence, the REAL ESTATE TOUR and other customized activities.
My excellent real estate services for you, the Faculty Candidate, are
as follows:
After Florida State University contacts me to provide you with the REAL ESTATE TOUR and INTRODUCTION TO TALLAHASSEE, I will perform the following activities dependent upon your needs and suggestions:
1. Telephone or e-mail you long distance to interview for special needs/requests before you arrive. Have you complete the Mystery House Questionnaire to assess your needs for showing homes and neighborhoods during your TOUR.
2. Send three Tallahassee Welcome Packages from the area banks.
3. When you
arrive in town, I will pick you up at the designated location for the TOUR,
and drop you off afterwards. The TOUR will last approximately three hours.
4. Have a special
TOUR of Tallahassee including but not limited to:
1. Send the Welcome Box (a twelve pounder!) including many extra items of Interest/need including a "Kid's Kit" if applicable.
2. Telephone or e-mail
you to make plans for your move. Discuss any present needs in regards to real
estate, the moving plans, etc.
3. Follow up with a
letter and specific updated information on housing, send more real estate information,
multiple listing service (MLS) computer printouts, etc. Follow up regularly
with marketing magazines (HOMES AND LAND, THE REAL ESTATE BOOK, the HOME section,
TALLAHASSEE MAGAZINE, etc.), information about Tallahassee and Florida, newsletters,
etc. until you arrive for your house hunting trip.
4. Plan the house hunting trip that is timely for closing/moving and that fits with both our schedules.
5. Proceed with all the necessary activities to purchase a home and close it:
The following are some exceptional circumstances
that have occurred for FSU Faculty Members:
1. Drs. Jack and Susan
Fiorito, in the College of Business and College of Human Sciences, contracted
for their new home by fax--sight unseen!! This was a home that was sold and
the contract fell through; it came back on the market. They had not seen the
house on their house hunting trip. The contract was written contingent upon
Susan's inspection after the fax contract was accepted. A competing contract
was presented simultaneously and the Fioritos' got their new home in Betton
Hills!
2. Dr. Kevin McNeilly, in the Marketing Department of the College of Business, came into town at noon Tuesday. Within two and a half days she: bought her new house, started her loan application, looked at eight day care centers for her son and three stables for her horse. She left Tallahassee at 5:00 PM Thursday! She sold the house in Royal Oaks three years later quickly and at a nice profit!
3. Dr. and Mrs. Evan Ringquist, Department of Political Science, were on summer vacation, fishing in Michigan. We arranged to "overnight" their complete loan closing package to execute and return. His colleagues and I assisted in the absentee closing and furniture delivery for them!
One area of my work is to assist Florida State University with the REAL ESTATE TOUR and INTRODUCTION TO TALLAHASSEE for prospective faculty members. I have found that this is a very valuable service to render to the University as well as you, the Candidate. As you are interviewed for a position at FSU, one of your concerns is about Tallahassee as a home -- a place to possibly raise your family and enjoy a great lifestyle.
I have been working with FSU since the early '80's with Faculty TOURS. Candidates have critiqued the TOUR and INTRODUCTION TO TALLAHASSEE. They overwhelmingly feel this was a very important part of their decision making and positive part of their interviewing process.
My mission is the following:
